Obama Against Spirit

He wants to have rules replace personal decisions and freedom in healthcare.

Check out this disturbing transcript where he tried to peddle his healthcare policy on ABC:

Obama: "I don't think that we can make judgments based on people's 'spirit.' Uh, that would be, uh, a pretty subjective decision to be making. I think we have to have rules that, uh, say that, uh, we are going to provide good quality care for all people. End-of-life care is one of the most difficult sets of decisions that we're going to have to make. But understand that those decisions are already being made in one way or another. If they're not being made under Medicare and Medicaid, they're being made by private insurers. At least we can let doctors know -- and your mom know -- that you know what, maybe this isn't going to help. Maybe you're better off, uhh, not having the surgery, but, uhh, taking the painkiller."

Rush responds:

Do you realize how cold and heartless that answer is? This woman is asking about her mother. And everywhere she went, except one doctor, refused to put in the pacemaker. "Nah, she's too old; she's going to die anyway."

So basically Obama is saying the government should be making decisions about how much treatment and what level of quality you're going to get. He's admitting he will tell old, dying people to take painkillers instead of having surgery.

Obamacare means replacing human decision makers with cold, heartless rules.

Press Tension

Obama ran into some testy exchanges with FOX and the state run media.

I think he managed the tension as best he could. I was surprised to see the normally-loyal media go after him like that.

He's obviously playing dumb like he doesn't see how the government throwing money at a public health care option is going to drive private insurers out of business.

He almost seemed to agree that he has conceded to McCain's criticism of being too soft on Iran.

If you don't have time to watch the video, check out the CBS article covering the tension.

I also liked this article covering the way independents are opposing his health care plan.

And this RCP article really explains well how the president's approval rating is suffering from unemployment mostly. The writer, Jay Cost, does a good job of explaining how Reagan's turnaround of the unemployment rate sent his polling much higher, and suggests Obama would need to do the same thing.

Twice As Many Conservatives

I just read on the RCP blog about a Gallup study that shows about twice as many Americans identify themselves as "conservative" compared to those who identify themselves as "liberal".

Gallup reports that 40 percent of interviewees this year said they were conservative, 35 percent moderate and 21 percent liberal. The number of conservatives hasn't shifted much in the last two decades -- from 1996 through 2004, between 39 and 40 percent described themselves as conservative -- though that number had dropped to 37 percent over the last three years.

See the Gallup study here titled "Conservatives Are Single-Largest Ideological Group".

I'm not saying people should run with the crowd. I'm saying the media keeps telling us that those who don't want the government to run their lives are part of a shrinking, old-fashioned minority is sheer nonsense.

And I find it crazy that the liberals -who represent 21% of the political views in this nation- are the ones running two branches of the government!

With that, I say it is time for the GOP to nominate a conservative for president.

Sarah Discussing Letterman

Yahoo! described this interview as "uncomfortable".

I think the Yahoo! people are "uncomfortable" with how well Sarah did and her expanding political prospects.

How can Yahoo! call her interview uncomfortable when she won Matt Lauer over?

I thought it was a little awkward when she read a sentence or two from an index card. But to call the interview uncomfortable?

The story is that Letterman joked about what Sarah's daughter was doing with A-Rod during the seventh inning stretch of a Yankees game.

She attended the Yankee's game with her very young daughter, Willow. If Willow had relations with A-Rod it would be statuatory rape.

Letterman has said he was talking about Bristol (aka the daughter not at the game).

Lauer -disagreeing with Sarah- claims this will cost Letterman.

As for Letterman's offer to discuss the matter with him on his show, it isn't worth talking with someone who refuses to take serious matters seriously.

Actors, commedians, politicians, and professors are people who don't know how to handle subjects seriously, and neither do they deserve to be taken seriously.

Seriously, Letterman, learn something about earnesty from this woman.

The Bumper Stickers are Changing!!

Just in Case you can't Read it.

America

And that seems to SUM IT ALL UP!!
Also note the truck is White, the letters are in Blue and Red. Very Patriotic!

Oh, and I know how some people love statistics well, according to the Associate Press Obama's approval rating is dropping too. Now, Obama started at around 74% and is around 64% depending on the different polls you look at but it is dropping. The euphoria is waning. Imagine that? Americans aren't working. Homes are going into foreclosure at fast rates. Not just in your normal areas such as California, Florida and Nevada but Michigan and Ohio are going to have record numbers of homes in forclosure. By the end of the year they expect to have 2 million homes in forclosure. We have already hit the 1 million mark. This is a record high in the United States.
We are still in Iraq.
I know his fans claim none of it is his fault and he hasn't had enough time, hello, he has been in office since January! How long should we wait for some recovery? Wake up America, we are still sliding downhill!! He has a democratic Congress, what more can the guy ask for? Here is a thought, maybe, he should try things that will actually WORK.
Maybe he should do a Fireside chat, or pop on Twitter and tell everyone how great things are going to be, yeah, that might work, Oh, wait, he's not campaigning anymore so, maybe the social networks won't be needed for another year.
All I know, is it is time to pull America out of this slump and someone needs to step up to the plate and do it!
I'm tired of the speeches. Words are not enough and he needs to focus on America. I read his lovely speech in Cairo, great, get home and get Americans working. Really, at this point I don't care if Israel and Palestine blow each other up. Send, Hilary to make the nice speech, that is her job, right?
I want my friends to be back to work. I want my friends to have homes. I want my friends to be able to send their children to college. FOCUS, MR. PRESIDENT, FOCUS!! I want some action!

DISCLAIMER: I DO REALLY CARE ABOUT THE MIDDLE EAST BUT I BELIEVE IN PRIORITIZING AND DELEGATING. WE HAVE PRESSING MATTERS IN OUR OWN COUNTRY. HILARY COULD HAVE SMOOTHED THINGS OVER AND OBAMA NEEDS TO FOCUS ON THE UNITED STATES, THE CRUMBLING UNITED STATES.

We Told Ya So

Sarah Palin has remained remarkably quiet after the election.

She resisted some of the stimulus funds (and the strings attached), but this would be the first time she has sunk her teeth in to the White House agenda:

An excerpt from Matt Drudge:

PALIN: That?s how I feel! I feel like? and I think that more and more constituents are going to open their eyes now and open their ears to hear what is really going on and realize ok? Maybe we didn?t have a good way of expressing that, or articulating that message of ?here is what America could potentially become if we grow government to such a degree that we cannot pay for it and we have to borrow money from other countries, some countries that don?t necessarily like America.

And this many months into the new administration, quite disappointed, quite frustrated with not seeing those actions to rein in spending, slow down the growth of government. Instead Sean it is the complete opposite. It?s expanding at such a large degree that if Americans aren?t paying attention, unfortunately our country could evolve into something that we do not even recognize.

HANNITY: Socialism?

PALIN: Well, that is where we are headed. That is where we have to be blunt enough and candid enough and honest enough with Americans to let them know that if we keep going down these roads? nationalizing many of our services, our projects, our businesses, yes that is where we would head. And that is why Americans have to be paying attention. And we have to have our voices heard. And ultimately it need to be our will, the American people?s will imposed on Washington, instead of the other way around.

America Begins To Notice

Barack Obama's polling has dipped below 60% for the first time in his presidency as of last Friday, as aggregated by RCP.

Carol E. Lee also mentions some interesting Gallup data showing more American's disapproval of Obama's control over federal spending than approve of it.

The change is dramatic in how quickly it is taking place:

Obama's job approval rating for his handling of the economy has dropped from 59% in February to 55% today, while his disapproval rating has risen by 12 points, from 30% to 42%,” Gallup said. “The fact that Obama's approval on the economy has become more negative over this time period is of interest, given that Gallup’s measure of consumer mood has become more positive between March and the current time.[1]

The Associated Press, which dogmatically promoted Obama during the end of the Democratic Primary and doggedly during the 2008 general election has been sending broadside attacks today at Obama, the candidate they worked hard to get elected.

What do I think is driving this drop this early?

Charles Krauthammer made an excellent point in January that voters (and Timothy) blamed President Bush for the sluggish economy, but after six months the responsibility would be on Obama's shoulders. Obama's plan to improve the economy is to create more entitlement programs when the current ones are already insolvent and pushing the government into soaring deficits.

Instead of delivering America from disaster, he has handed America over to disaster. Americans are just starting to realize what is going on.

Baloney Crisis

Some independent Burger Kings weigh in on the global warming debate.

Apparently, they'd rather the US government focus on real problems instead of made up ones.

The Abortion Hypocrisy

Barack Obama responded to the death of Dr. George Tiller saying:

I am shocked and outraged by the murder of Dr George Tiller as he attended church services this morning. However profound our differences as Americans over difficult issues such as abortion, they cannot be resolved by heinous acts of violence.

Barack Obama believes violence is legitimate when it is used to kill babies, but it is "heinous" when used against those who kill babies.

Sounds like an extreme double standard to me.

Randall Terry from Operation Rescue also responded to the killing:

George Tiller was a mass-murderer. We grieve for him that he did not have time to properly prepare his soul to face God. I am more concerned that the Obama Administration will use Tiller's killing to intimidate pro-lifers into surrendering our most effective rhetoric and actions. Abortion is still murder. And we still must call abortion by its proper name; murder. Those men and women who slaughter the unborn are murderers according to the Law of God. We must continue to expose them in our communities and peacefully protest them at their offices and homes, and yes, even their churches.

Studies show Americans are turning against abortion. For the first time in our nation's history, more than 50% of the population would describe themselves as "pro-life". About 42% consider themselves to be "pro-choice".

Gaius Octavius

After taking my wife out to see Night at the Museum, I decided to find out more about Gaius Octavius-the roman general who plays alongside a miniturized Owen Wilson.

It turns out Gaius Octavius was one the best Roman generals alongside Scipio Africanus and Julius Ceasar. Although he wasn't of the noble class, he married a relative of Julius Ceasar and quickly achieved recognition through military conquest (against the Dalmations I believe).

I was shocked when I read this section from wikipedia:

At the time, it was Roman custom to lay a newborn before their father. If the baby was a boy, and the father wanted to keep the child, the father would pick the boy up and hold him. If the baby was a girl, and the father wanted to keep the child, he would signal for the mother to breastfeed the baby . If he did not want the child (either a boy or a girl), he would have the child thrown out into the streets. It is believed that, because of a warning from an astrologer, Octavius almost had his son Octavius thrown out into the street. Instead, he decided at the last moment to keep the child.

And his son, also named Octavius, would one day become the ruler known as "Augustus" -as in the month August, Augustus.

Like those times it is considered an American/Worldly custom to give parents abortion on demand, a custom that increases as a country becomes more secular.

The Greeks left their unwanted babies on the hills to die of exposure. The accolytes of Molech burned their babies to death on the altar of Molech.

I bring this up because a number of people (such as Barack Obama and Janet Napolitano) have been accusing the Christians of promoting terrorism, as if secularism will save us from mass murder.

Have we already forgotten the Great Terror of the French Revolution? Or Stalin's purge where -if I remember correctly- 20 million (mostly innocent) Russians died?

Secularism is another word for killing mass amounts of innocent people.

Also, check out this excellent article by Ann Coulter where she shows how a so-called Christian terrorist killed one person every decade, but abortion has killed 49 million people (that's about about 1/6th the population of the US ... do you think there might have been some Augustuses in there?).
