We Want What We Don't Need
I was thinking about this Health Care debate. Which one?
Well, all of them! Here's the thing that I see. Health Insurance is a BENEFIT that people PAY for. You want to go to the doctor? If you have insurance, you don't have to pay as much for that doctor's visit because you've been paying (or many times your employer has been playing) for your insurance every month. So maybe that doctor's appointment only costs you $30.
If you don't have Health Insurance, you can still go to that doctor...you just will pay more. Guess what? I'm okay with that.
Why? Because if you can't afford to go to THAT doctor, you can go to a different doctor. It's kind of like going to Target or Walmart to buy a bottle of Aspirin. MOST of the time, you're actually getting the exact same product, just for less money at one place.
You can't afford a particular doctor, you can go to another one. There are clinics everywhere in which you can go even if you don't have any money. When I first got a job out of college, I had no money. In my field of work, you must have a physical and TB test before you can be hired anywhere. I had no money. I had no insurance. How did I ever get a job?
I went to a local clinic that didn't charge me. They worked off of donations.
Why do we think that every single person in the USA needs to have Health Insurance? Because everyone has the right to have all things equal?
That's a wrong presumption. Everyone has the right to have equal OPPORTUNITIES. Finding a job, paying for your own medical care, and having money to provide for your needs (and yes, your wants as well) are all OPPORTUNITIES that everyone in this country has. Whether or not you take that opportunity is up to you!
Everyone doesn't NEED to have insurance, they just have to have to OPPORTUNITY to see a doctor should they choose to do so. I choose to see a doctor on the medical insurance plan that I pay for. If I didn't choose to accept that insurance, and pay into it, I would choose to either pay the full price OR go to a local clinic that doesn't cost as much.
Health Insurance isn't a NEED...it's a WANT. The government is not here to provide us with our WANTS.

The problem is the Liberals do not see it as a want they see it as a NEED, a MUST.
My head hurts. It is an unreasonable conversation.
My question to them is: "Why don't they feel a home is a need?" Or is that next?
I'm just baffled by the entire thing.
These hippie dippie communes came out and got themselves elected, right under our noses and really, I am feeling it is too late.
I'm getting tired of the fight.
Maybe it is just late (at night) but I'm just tired of the whole thing!
Oh, I think the home IS next...along with the car, the clothes, and everything else.
We can't get tired of the fight, however, because then they win for sure. This is going to be going for the long haul. We need to get our energy up and keep on fighting.
"Health Insurance isn't a NEED...it's a WANT. The government is not here to provide us with our WANTS."
Exactly. And like Jenni said, they see everything as a NEED.
I heard one of my liberal friends say the other day: "If these iPhone apps weren't so cool I wouldn't need them."
As usual a need is a want in disguise.
With all due respect to your perspectives, regarding our countries current political, social and economical difficulties I would like to point out some (your) –wrong or negative- or even bull-crap ideas about Americas crisis’s in the status-quote.
First you seem to ramble on and on how bad our current President is and how bad the Democratic Party in America is and you are constantly promoting hate and fear with your – political definitions that America is heading towards “not” socialism, but “Fascism” which according to our own perspective of history was evil. Therefore, the argument that Obama resembles an Italian-Fascist-dictator should be an embarrassment to your own character as an American citizen. Furthermore, according to your statements you seem to resemble an image of a criminal and enemy of the American public; due to individuals as yourself and many others who are blinded by their selfish-desires and goals for greater political and financial benefits America today is faced with some of the most complex and contradictory issues of its time. You go on about blaming our President and Democrats about these problems that have been developing and building –secretly behind the knowledge of the American public for over decades now, yet according to you – all of the sudden these problems came along with the election of Barack Obama. How do you even gain the courage to promote all of these lies and hatred towards one man? – On the other hand, judging your ignorant perspective about America’s wants and needs. According to you the best solution to Americas success is through a dog-eat-dog world – you also seem to support the idea that “if a child, women, man or any individual suffers in America it’s their own fault” you completely ignore the aspects of inequalities that “this neo-liberal-capitalism” has brought among the American society and you completely ignore the fact that- Yes it is the fault of big-businesses – and ignorant politicians like your self why America suffers today.
