Criminality and Racism On The Court

Sonia Sotomayor makes the claim that criminals are simply victims of being poor:

I had more problems during my first year in the office with the low-grade crimes — the shoplifting, the prostitution, the minor assault cases ... In large measure, in those cases you were dealing with socioeconomic crimes, crimes that could be the product of the environment and of poverty. [1]

And the claim that Latina women are wiser than white men:

I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn’t lived that life.

I'm pleasantly surprised that she has ruled against the baby killers, but her defense of criminality in itself -that criminals have no control over their choices- is sheer evil.

And her claim about Latin women being more qualified is not much better.
