NY Muslim Beheads His Own Wife

A New York muslim remains in jail on accusations of beheading his wife.
The regular news media is doing everything they can to avoid talking about this one.
The unbelievable part to me is that this Muslim started a television channel after September 11th in order to show the world who the Muslims really are. I find his behavior very telling.
My friend at work keeps telling me how peaceful and wonderful Muslims are. He says to me, 'Well, the Christians are just as bad because the priests have been abusing the children.'
This is the equivocation: getting abused or getting your head cut off!
The template of the news media is to always be as cultural as possible, and this involves concealing stories that would undermine religions that are not Christianity.

A man decapitates his wife and the conclusion I reach is that he's a murderer. Whatever religious or psychotic rationalisations he performed while convincing himself to do it should be assumed to be a product of delusional hatred or insanity, not the religion in and of itself. Are all muslim husbands beheading their wives?
I mean seriously, if a Christian man kills someone for what he calls religious reasons, wouldnt we hate an atheist coming out and saying "this proves how violent and destructive the religion of Christianity is; it has resulted in the death of so many people in history." I think we'd both agree Matt that past violence can't be blamed on the religions because if the religions did not exist they'd find another reason to kill each other. As they often did. I think that applies to this story as well.
If this were an isolated incident (i.e. 'A man decapitates his wife and the conclusion I read...') then you would have a point. Would you make the case that Christians are just as likely to behead people as Muslims?
Off of the top of my head I can think of a number of times in the last five years that a Muslim has beheaded someone. I can't think of a time any Christian has done this, including Medieval times.
If the Koran explicitly called people to kill Christians and Jews would it sway your decision?
Don't forget that the Old Testament repeatedly commands people to stone others for what we could consider now to be minor offences (i.e. disobeying your parents, adultery). The two religious documents (OT and Koran) are pretty similar in encouraging violence. I would argue that Christians as a whole are just as likely to kill people as Muslims as a whole, although I personally believe one of the central features of Christianity is non-violence. Does it really matter if a man beheads his wife as opposed to shoots his wife? The method of execution probably depends on the culture.
Furthermore, you haven't really provided any evidence that beheading is a widespread epidemic, or that family homicides are statistically more likely to happen in Muslim countries than Christian countries. Accordingly, I really dont think you could make any conclusions from that article that extend beyond the individuals involved, much less a sweeping generalisation that makes the assumption that all muslims are the same.
I think they don't want to report on it because they are afraid. Muslims resort to violence to protect their religion. Christians rarely do.
You will be called racist,by some, for posting this but I think that those who scream racist the loudest, in this particular instance, are the most fearful and the true racists. I believe that we should be fearless in doing our best to ascertain the content of another's character to find the reason for his actions, not his religion or race. That doesn't mean that religion or race might not be the reason behind the action for both influence character.
Thanks for being fearless, Matt.
