Coolidge's Views On Taxes

"[This] country needs every ounce of its energy to restore itself. The costs of government are all assessed upon the people."

"Taxes take from everyone a part of his earnings and force everyone to work for a certain part of his time for the government."

"I want to cut down public expense. I want the people of America to be able to work less for the government and more for themselves."

Some excellent observations from one of our finest presidents, Calvin Coolidge.

Sadly, this is a point of view being largely ignored, at this point in time, even by those who say they are not tax and spend politicians.

Ah, but didn't Coolidge know that to pay taxes is considered patriotic? Or wasn't he aware that when they said a "government for the people..." what they really meant was the other way around, a people for the government? You know, the people should take care of the government not the other way around!

He's just so silly!
