Offended

I am a Christian woman and my God teaches me to be slow to take offense but today, I must confess, I am thoroughly offended.

I am offended by a people who claim their religion is a peaceful religion but when they speak, all that comes from their mouths are insults, threats, and death and in their hearts is only murder for all who would disagree with them and their religion. I am offended by a people who use their own children as weapons to fulfill their hateful threats against others as suicide bombers and human shields. I am offended by a people who allow their religious leaders to oppress them in ignorance and fear and then seek to spread that oppression to the rest of the world in the name of, Allah. I am offended by this people who seem to be themselves in a constant state of being offended by small slights aimed at the icons of their faith and by larger wrongs that are met with the same solution of death to those who do not believe as they do. I am offended by this people who, by their actions, seem to celebrate only death and never life. I am offended by this people who continually call for the death of all Jews and who's unifying desire is to wipe Israel from the map along with the USA, whom they also view as Jews simply because we are the ally of Israel.

I am weary of the label, Jihad being used to describe no holy war as it is touted, but what in reality, is a war fueled only by evil hatred toward all that are labeled as infidel.

Though I dislike lumping a people together under one banner of evil, I can no longer ignore the tsunami of antisemitic evil that is spreading across this globe and is quite strong in Europe, through people of the Muslim faith. I abhor their burning of effigies, their riots, hate filled demonstrations, and the dark cloud of fear that they have place all of us under. I can no longer deny the simularities between their hatred and that hatred that nearly consumed Europe during World War II, through Hitler. They are of the same spirit. I am disgusted by the terrorist actions of those that Islam holds to be heroes who are only cowards that attack and slaughter the innocent. I recognize these people for who they are, enemies of Israel, America, western civilization, and of all people who desire to be free.

I am even more offended by the politically correct amoral code that allows this hatred to flourish and even sides with it and protects it. I am revolted by the political and medial elites and the antisemitic hatred that they try to hide behind intellectual masks. I am tired of these amoral and decadent snobs who put evil for good and use their money and power to force feed it to the common man.

I will not remain silent on this matter any longer. If there are moderate Muslim voices, then let them speak up, now! Let them show us their bravery instead of the vile cowardice that has been continually displayed since 9-11, by standing up against the evil tide that has taken their own people. Let me hear anger against those who slaughter the innocent. Let me hear them cry for peace in Palestine by demanding that the Palestinians stop firing rockets and terrorizing Israel. If moderate Muslim voices remain silent, then I will assume there is no moderation allowed within the Muslim faith and those who claim to be moderate, I also will mark as part of the enemy. I will stand with Israel and defend, in whatever way that I am able, her right to exist and her right to defend herself. Even if the whole world be taken up in an antisemitic tide of evil, by the power of God, I will stand with Israel.

I don't mean to offend, but that post sounds as racist and one-sided as hamas/hezbollah propaganda. Both sides kill innocent civilians as mercilessly as the other, and if you approached morality from a purely utilitarian perspective 20 Palestinian civilians are killed for every 1 Israeli civilian.

The bit in the last paragraph about moderate muslims remaining silent reminds me of Bin Ladin when he talked about how if civilians of a country (e.g. America) participate in the political process, vote in the elections, and don't do anything drastic as their leaders bomb Arabs, then they are just as guilty for the blood shed as the leaders themselves. That's their justification for murdering innocent people. The thing that boggles my mind is that most muslim voices (especially in western societies) are moderate, it's just some people group them with murderers because they dont sing praises to President Bush while saluting the flag. In the Gaza strip itself, it's hard to be moderate when family members, relatives, friends, and respected figures are dying from Israeli bombs. Not that im condoning any kind of violence. I personally believe violence is never justified and only leads to more violence. But you need to understand where people are coming from before making black/white judgements like that.

Timothy,

I think you do not hold the Muslim people responsible for their own actions. It sounds as if you blame their behavior on how they are treated by Americans. I agree that we have meddled where we shouldn't and that we should drill for our own oil here and leave them to themselves. I am not a neo-con and I'm not an avid supporter of President Bush. I am not a racist and my supporting a nation's right to exist and a nation's right to defend itself is not racist. Please remeber also that there are Palestians living in Israel but Jews are living in Palestine. Who is racist? Why does the UN never cry out against the rockets that have been pounding Israel or against the terroist attacks that are a part of their daily life? Agains, who is racist? Where is the bias? Is the UN now allied with terrorists? I would say they are.

I know that not all Muslims are murders but there is a segment, that seems to be fairly large, that are murders, who are a threat to all people who wish to leave in peace and tolerance and the struggle against this horror calls for these right minded people to speak up. If they do not then by association, they are guilty of the same crimes.

The US and Israel are allies. Allies stand together so don't expect me to suddenly begin to side with an enemy of Israel when that enemy attacks her relentlessly and she stands up to defend herself and also to defend herself in such a way as to eliminate the problem. How would you have them fight this war 'proportionately'? Do they get 400 rockets to fire into Gaza in the next 2 months? How many of their children should they sacrifice as human bombs? Is this the politically correct respons? Or maybe the politically correct response for Israel and the US is to submit to the terrorists and allow them to kill us and take everything that we have.

I do very much resent the protests in Europe and in America in support of the terrorist government, Hamas. If Islam is their government of choice then why are they in Europe and in America? Could it be that a closed society controled by an oppresive ideology does not produce that which is needed for people to live properously? I very much resent that they bite the hand that is feeding them because it is my hand they are biting. I think they should return to their own people and solve their own problems or they should assimilate with the country they have chosen. The choices made by individual Muslims, at this point in time, will have much greater impact than any dicision made by President Bush.

I have one final question. Do you believe genocide to be a product of extreme racism? If so, then how can you condone Muslim people calling for the destruction of all Jewish people in the Middle East? That is the politically correct stance that more than boggles my mind, it defies reason just as true racism defies all reason.

I am a little perplexed in what sense Islam is supposed to be a religion of peace. Equating the 'sins' of Christendom with Islam is a terrible equivocation. As far as I can tell Christians have never tried to take over a whole contintent, at least not by military might. The Muslims have (repeatedly) tried to take over Europe and succeeded with much of Africa and the Middle Eastern subcontinent.

To equiate the Palestinians with Israel is a profound error. The Israelis keep giving them things (even land!) and the Palestinians just keep blowing up innocent civilians. Maybe Alexander the Great had the best solution: shipping everyone in the region off to live in different places in the world. And for Ahmadinajad to say the holocaust never happened ... it just shows the Hitler in him.

The whole Arab/Israel conflict is one-sided and its time someone spoke of for Israel! Excellent post, LL.

(Minor note: the Arabs (who are largely Muslim) are a Semitic people ... they are not anti-semitic.)

Tim,

LL's point is that when the Japanese-Americans and the African-Americans were looked upon with suspicion, they made a concerted attempt to show their patriotism, that they were Americans. I don't see that happening with the Muslims at any level.

Also, think about that time the Pope mentioned how Islam spread by the sword and the Muslims started killing nuns. Doesn't that prove exactly what the pope was saying?

The Koran teaches its believers to kill innocent Jews and Christians. There is nothing comparable to that in the Bible, and this is a fact that George W. Bush has thusly failed to mention.

Anyway I think you're giving them too much credit. The Koran has little if anything to say about love, and Allah is never claimed to be a god of Love.

Hi BB,

Yes, and the Arabs hate the Palestinians but are siding with them because it is expedient in their hatred of the Jews. Really, it is not race but religion. The first people Muhamed went to were the Jews and they rejected them. Then he went to the Persians. He did not forget the slight of the Jewish people and his revenge is woven into his teachings.

The enmities in this part of the world are ancient in a way than Americans can never really understand and we can't fix them. In my opinion, these people will have to fix their own problems or wipe each other from the face of the earth by tribal hatred and warfare. As for Israel, I support her right to exist and defend herself and feel that as Americans we have our own moral obligation to aid here. I would much prefer to be energy independent and no longer have any interest in the rest of the Middle East, but that is unlikely to occur. I don't think there will be any solution until Jesus sets His feet upon the Mount of Olives. There is no human solution to this mess.

Pam

p.s. I also feel that we have a moral obligation in Iraq and Afghanistan that we are responsible to fill. I don't think it is possible to set a time-table to determine its fulfillment.
