The Grace Commission

Ronald Reagan summoned a commission in 1982 to review and report the ineffeciencies of government. Many politicans on both sides of the aisle have promised to go "line by line" (Obama) through the budget and weed out ineffeciencies. As far as I know, only Reagan ever did this.

The results of the Grace Commission -as it would be called- were startling ... and ignored by the corrupt democrats of Congress. The report claimed:

One third of income tax revenue is lost because of the wastefulness of the government. The report claimed $90 billion dollars (not adjusted for inflation since 1982) went to program mismanagement and $160 billion went to outright waste. [1]

The commission recommended a series of changes that they claimed would save the government $424 billion dollars over three years. The democrats refused to pass the their recommendations.

As for our day, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has estimated that the funds from Obama's stimulus will come long after the recession is over (keep in mind the CBO is run by the democrats!). Brit Hume has reported it will spend 2.2 million dollars per job that it creates. Hume noted that the private sector can employ people for far less money.

I just don't understand why people want to rely on the government to create jobs.
