Personality Cult
One of the most difficult things about Obama's victory over McCain is reading these ridiculous puff pieces about him in the headlines. Time magazine has been doing this for more than two years (it's actually why I canceled my subscription).
Look at this headline from the AP (as Rush calls them, the APO -Associated Press Obama). The headline is Obama staff combines DC minds with Chicago roots.
George W. Bush was continually attacked for the Texas members of his staff (who I happen to like a lot, especially Karen Hughes, Rove, and Harriet Myers). For Obama the Chicago politicans are part of an advanced hybrid staff -or so we are spoon fed to believe.
Don't forget those AP articles comparing Obama to other great presidents who came to power 'during a time of crisis'. Foolishly I clicked on the link to read about how Roosevelt and Licoln came to power during a time of crisis, and so is Obama. (By the way, Obama is the next Roosevelt and Lincoln -just take our overeducated opinion for it).
I also read a disturbing piece this weekend saying Obama is 'obviously a student of Lincoln' for putting his former opponents on his staff (unlike the evil, Republican Nixon who would never do that). He is always compared to the most well-remembered of our presidents.
Don't forget the Washington Post has openly admitted it's bias towards Obama (See here). And two studies have shown more anti-McCain headlines than anti-Obama ads among the major news carriers (Fox News was determined to be 50/50 by Rueters or the AP, I forget which).
And now there is effort to have Obama's birthday recognized as a national holiday. They already have a President's day, but Obama deserves his own because his presidency (which hasn't started yet, and, by the way, he hasn't passed any legislation that anyone can remember) is the greatest in history.
Don't be surprised if Mr. Obama gets his face on Mount Rushmore before the inauguration.

Oh my goodness did you watch 60 Minutes tonight? I had to change the channel, my stomach was starting to 'turn'.
The reference over and over to Lincoln, bla,blah blah. Then, he started to carefully refer to FDR. Did you notice how he was careful? He stated the "American people liked having a confident leader and one willing to try different things to get them back to work." Hello, us Americans are paying for his 'tries' today, Thankyou very much. In addition, the babbling of him and his wife being the most 'normal' couple to be coming into the White House in a long time made me want to puke. They represent a 'normal' family. WHAT! Yeah, all moms are Harvard Law grads and Princeton undergrads with high powered jobs and Dad has been climbing the political ladder for years, quickly. He kept refering to her as the 'perfect' mom. Like there is one. Gee, glad she sets the standard for 'normal' now. Please, I just love it, when an elitist tries to become 'normal'. Like I said the interview, well, it was a joke, just another, 'puff piece', as you would say. I didn't finish watching, too sweet for me and I love my sweets.
Yikes, I didn't see it. Sounds like business as usual. I just read an interesting piece at the Politico about how the Washington Post is trying to get some semblance of impartiality back at their paper.
As for the Obama's being a normal couple, well, not in education or finances you're right. Also I do believe Obama in person is a little snobby (though not like Kerry) ... he got some flack for complaining about the cost of spices at Whole Foods. I do find him 'normal' in a refreshing way because -unlike Roosevelt or Clinton- he seems to actually love his wife. Of course, at Obama's point in his career it looked like the Clinton's and Roosevelt's were pretty "normal" as well. Bush was able to successfully make this aspect of 'normalacy' part of his campaign. I'd rather elect a faithful husband than a Jeopardy champion anyday.

Well...if he's going to get a holiday for his birthday, I think he should first prove that he is a natural born citizen and constitutionally qualified to be president. I know you don't think there is a problem but if there is no problem then why doesn't he produce the vaulted certificate and move on? There is a growing list of people (Democrat, Philip Berg former Atty Gen of Pennsylvania and Republican, Alan Keyes just to name two) who are attempting various kinds of lawsuits to force him to do just that. The Berg case is pending before the Supreme Court with Obama and the DNC asked to provide relevent documentation by Dec.1. There is also concern now that the selective service registration (one of the very few documents released by Obama)is forged. Obama has also operated under several different names or alliases and some think that he refuses to release documentation of his education because he may have gotten aid as Barry Sotero an Indonesian national.
It is rediculous that there are so many unanswered questions about this man who is soon set to hold the highest office in the land. Questions that should have been asked by our media and settle long ago. Questions that Obama and the DNC should seek to clear up but I think they are betting heavily on the "I'm whitey and I appologize" factor---a reverse form of racial predjudice that precludes people from treating others of another race with anything but kidgloves. I think Bill Ayers taught Obama to play this type of racial card very, very, well.
